Oh~~ i cant help fall in love with this singer~ here is a rare fantastic voice by gary cao. This particular song was so nice that it make my hair stand and I have goosebumps all over my arms~!! He can sing so well and so sincerely that he make me want to cry~ below are two version of the song. The first one is live in NTU Singapore and the second is the MTV. I remember him well cos i went to his mini concert in Malacca and he wow me away with his voice~ he is from Malaysia and he has an attitude of a handsome prince charming (as oppose to awkward new comer) when he moves around and greet his fans~ i cant help sighing away when he sings~ haha.... it seems that he can sing up to 16 tone of do...re...mi...fa...so...la... well u get wat i mean~

Oh he is so handsome~~ by listening to his voice i think he is a better actor than singer~ nevertheless i am still very touch when i hear him sing~ although he is not a great singer, he exude an aura of confidence and an element of cheekiness that make him so appealing~ :D

Making friends by Andrew Matthews Chapter 4/6

Chapter 4: Other ppl's expectation
1. IF U WANT TO INFLUENCE OTHERS THEN COMPLIMENT THEM! You dont have to be a crawler. Neither must u heap upon them litanies of of insincere or false compliments. Simply recognize their good point and let them know. They will remember you. We all need recognition and praise. Our appetite for praise are the same as our appetite for food - it is never satisfied for long. We will never get enough of praise. Eg Peter send his car for repair and told the boss, "u have the most beautiful workshop i have ever seen. It is clean and organise. It is a joy to come here and it is a credit to u." The boss was bowled over. For 20 yrs he had been putting his heart and soul but no one ever complimented him. Some ppl are embarass when u praise them but they are actually glowing inside. Why praise always work? Imagine a business man who are self assure, confident and smart. But on the inside he might be insecure about the part of him that might-not-be-good-enough. Therefore when u say something obvious to u like, "u r very successfull n u should be proud of ur achievement," it comes as a breath of fresh air. He will be overjoyed! SECOND HAND PRAISE-another option for praising others. Ppl are delighted when their fren or families praise them. It is also effective if u r buying someone service for the first time. A good way to start a friendship is to say, "Bob tells me u are the best gardener/mechanic around...", "My boss say u noe more about this machine than anybody else..." Firstly they will appreciate the recognition then next they will want to live up to the reputation.

2.TALKING - PEOPLE FEEL MORE COMFORTABLE IF THEY FEEL U R A BIT LIKE THEM. If u have things in common, they can identify with u and sense that u understand them. If u a) find things in common, b) care and c)be human then u will chat quite easily with other ppl.

Finding things in common. When u meet somebody new,they are wondering if u have things in common. Your challenge is to find out the similarities. PEOPLE WHO TURN OTHER OFF ARE ALWAYS FINDING DIFFERENCE. Their message is i m richer, more successful, interesting and i disagree with everything u say. Conversation with this kind of ppl will go like this: You: This salmon r wonderful. Him: this salmon give me hives. You: I am going to france this summer. HIm: My dog died in France.

Striking a common note with ppl is a skill u develop by making the effort to share something of yourself and being aware enough to uncover common interest.

Caring. Think of the last time u r talking to someone and they dont look like they are intersted. R u irritated? Other ppl can sense also if u do the same thing to them. To attract others we have to care about them. When we are vitally interested in someone it is rarely a problem to keep the converstion going. When we care we forget about ourself. We stop wondering, "wat m i going to say next?" There are no more those long uneasy silence. Caring means putting ourselves in the other person shoe and say "u tell me ur story"

Listening. Next time u are talking to someone take note and see if they are listening to u. Do they absorb every word u say or do they keep looking over their shoulder and watch? Do they ever repeat what they think u say just to check that they understand or r they just waiting for u to shut ur mouth so they can talk? Think about it. Dont u like it when ppl give u his total attention? Well the next person u speak to will no doubt feel the same. LISTENING WITHOUT JUDGING. Speak to any failing partner and they will make remarks like, "We dont talk anymore...", "there is no communication in the marriage...", "My father just wont listen..." THe recurring theme is LISTENING. With loved one it is so crucial. Not only do we listen but we also have to listen without judging. We are all so vulnerable. We need at least one person whom we can share our deepest concern and the person will say, "I love and accept u no matter wat."If we fear that when we expose our feeling and the person say, "shame on u" or "u are disgusting." Eventually u will drift apart.

3. DO WHAT U SAY. Do what u promise. Most ppl dont do what they say. They say they will do all kind of things and dont didnt deliver. How often do u hear ppl say, "I will ring u" and they dont, say "I am going to get fit" and they get fat, say "i will help u when i can" when u noe they wont. When we begin mean what we say, other people will: trust us, we consider carefully before we commit, honest, avoid unwanted situation and begin to like ourselves better. WHEN U TAKE NO NOTICE OF WAT U SAY, THEN OTHER PPL WILL TAKE NO NOTICE OF U. So how do u become a person of ur word? YOU MAKE CHOICES, ADMIT TO THEM AND STICK TO THEM. When a neighbor invite u for a drink, u were thinking that u will die instead of go there but u reply her, "sounds great i really hope i can make it!" Instead be honest and say, "Thank u for thinking about me but i wont be there this afternoon." Be tactfull, respect ur own wishes, state ur case and dont feel guilty for being true to yourself.

4. Everybody want respect. Eg: Mary thought that she always do all the housework and Jim (husband) never did anything for the house. She ask Jim to pick up the dry cleaning but Jim forget on his way home and she got angry and thought Jim dont care. Fact is she is not angry that he didnt pick up the laundry but that he did not respect her wishes (although he might have a valid reason). Ways to show respect: 1.LISTEN. Listening indicate respect, 2. EMPHATISE. Let the person knows he appreciate how she feels... "You must feel really upset that the one time u ask me to help out, i let u down! It must seem to u that i dont care less.", 3. IDENTIFY. Find a common ground, "If the situation reverse i will feel just like u," or "i dont blaim u for being upset, i would too." 4. WHAT WOULD U LIKE ME TO DO? When a irate ppl think that u dont care and u ask them wat would u like me to do then they will probably ask u to drive across town to take the laundry now. However when an irate person think that u care then their demand will dissolve. SO WHEN CAN I GIVE EXCUSE? u can give them after u emphathy. Eg: "darling u must b angry that i am 2 hrs late for our wedding. But someone stole my car"

In a nutshell, in dealing with angry ppl, FACTS dont work but care and respect work. LISTEN, EMPHATISE AND GIVE RESPECT then most ppl wont give u trouble.

5. TELL PPL HOW U FEEL. Eg if u love ur parent tell them how u feel. Dont wait till too late. Other ppl cant read ur feeling. Once they noe how u feel then ur relationship will improve.

6. PEOPLE NEED SPACE. Husband Jim want to go fishing and told his wife that he is going alone. Sometimes the best way to get along with others is to be absent.

Making friends by Andrew Matthews Chapter 3/6

This is a few usefull tips from Andrew Matthew book: Making friends. Part 3/6.

Chapter 3: Simplify your life
1. Dealing with ppl who impose. Have u ever had ppl arrive at ur door step who didn't know when to leave? Maybe they stay 4 in the morning or till xmas. We need to be comfortable about saying, "this isn't convenient..." Some ppl will bore u to death with endless story that you have heard many times. Have respect for yourself and while being polite, feel comfortable to say, "Frank, i appreciate u telling me this story. It may surprise u to know that u have told me this story before," or "I don't have time right now. Can u jt give me the essential story?" SOME PPL TAKE DELIGHT IN MAKING U FEEL GUILTY... "If it weren't for u... u are letting me down... after all i have done for u..." Guilt is destructive. Don't buy it. Draw attention to what they are doing and ask them outright, "U aren't trying to make me feel guilty, are u?" Usually they get the message and quit.

2. ASSERT YOURSELF. Where do u draw the line between being assertive and agressive behavior? When we assert ourself it is best to treat others with respect. You have a better chance in getting result if u complain one at a time. Eg: u eat too much, sleep too much,sober up, get a job... Fix the eating first and negotiate from there. Having learn to say no, remember there are times when it pays to accomodate others. It is important to strike a harmonious balance.
Guideline in being assertive:
a) Be objective: When u complain a situation, dont exaggerate and hurl blaime. Eg. A smoker beside u in air plane, "Your smoke is blowing in my face while i am eating. Will u be so kind as not to smoke?" its better than "take ur dirty habit outside" technique. Too often we like to say, "You ALWAYS." "You NEVER listen!" Such generalisation offend ppl. Similarly we must be fair and accurate in our assesment - "your filthy smoke is choking me" is an exageration.

b)Be clear of wat u want: "I would like to c the manager of the store immediately." Tell ppl specifically. Vague instruction like "smarten up!" or "learn some manners!" or "stop ripping me off" dont help

c)State consequence: If u lower down ur volume. I will make sure tat i will lower mine the next time i had a party. Talk in term of "positive if u do" instead of "negative if u don't."

3. DO U ALWAYS SEEK APPROVAL? Worrying about wat others think of us are a habit hard to break but there are tragic result if we dont break it. Often sensible ppl sentence themselves to a lifetime at a job that they hate, reasoning, "What will ppl say if i left this secure job?" Mothers confide, "all my life i wanted to..." Children labour thru years of university study to please their parents... "I hate this course, but if i quit, my parents will go bananas" It is sad but our greatest achievement is to step outside our comfort zones and doing what the mass are not doing.

4. Be ur own judge. The only way to escape GUILT MANIPULATION by others is to be ur own judge. Eg: Mother says, " I am very ill this morning. Would u stop wat u are doing and go to the supermarket for me?" [Message: I am sick and if u dont help me then it means u are uncaring.] You can say tat "Perhaps the shopping can wait a little mum. This is very important." Bf: "If u really love me then u will sleep with me." You can say that, "I appreaciate u belief i shd sleep with u but my view is..."

Trick in dealing with salesman: Act like a BROKEN MACHINE. In every sentence repeat that "i dont want to buy ur dictionary" When using the broken machine method keep voice calm, monotone and cool. Your aim is not to offend the person. Agree with the person when possible. "I agree i seem uncaring but i dont want to buy the dictionary." Further, use the same words for the impact will be stronger. And lastly be persistent.

COUNTERING MANIPULATION WITH QUESTION. This is use when broken record is not appropriate. 1 or 2 incisive q will show that u wont be push around. Eg: If u are a fren, u will lend me money. You: Why would a fren neccessarily lend u money? Him: cost i need it. You: I am sure u do, are u saying i am not a fren if i dont lend u money? Him: well... no.

Making friends by Andrew Matthews Chapter 2/6

This is part 2 of Making Friends by Andrew Matthew (self development book). I find his book really inspiring. If u feel the same way too then do urself a favor to read it. The book have many more eg and elaboration that will make u understand better :D

Chapter 2: Sorting Yourself Out
1. The distance we keep. Quit playing games. No one can make it all alone, though sometimes we fake it. We pretend we can. But there are no prizes for spending a lifetime playing games saying, "I m ok. I dont need anyone." Jane think, "i would call bob up but i dont want to let him think i like him." Bob thinks, "i am mad about Jane but i could never tell her." They spend weekend themselves, proud and lonely. There is no shame in finding someone else to be attractive or good company. But u tell yourself that I DONT WANT TO BE HURT... Sure u MIGHT b shattered but keep it in mind that we give everything we had.

2. YOU DECIDE HOW U FEEL. Misery is contagious. Sometimes people will even insist that you should be depressed. Eg my house are burgled and some cash are gone. After initial upsetting realisation that my house are burgled, i refuse to let the burgler wreck my day. But guess wat is the biggest prob? Other ppl want me to feel depressed. My fren Jim found out and insist that i shd be disturbed. "I heard ur house are burgled. You must feel terrible". I said, "Jim u heard we are burgled and i guess u noe all the facts. U also noe that i like to put unpleasantness behind me as soon as i can, so thk u for ur concern and let me tell u abt something much more intersting......" Jim in turn tell more of my frens and they in turn gave the same reaction as Jim. Often others mean well but manage to help u feel worse. IT IS UP TO U TO DECIDE HOW YOU FEEL. Have u been working all day and someone say, "gee u must be tired!" Being tired is the last thing on ur mind till u are reminded. Ppl will tell u frm time to time, "U shd be upset," "Times are tough," "Life is a bummer," "Work is a pain in the neck." Tell yourself quietly, "That is their reality, and i respect it, and i may choose to talk with them about it - but i refuse to adopt it. I CHOOSE HOW I FEEL

Making friends by Andrew Matthews Chapter 1/6

This book is great~!Its mainly about communicating with ppl~ Most of the points make sense. I hope to share with you all~ Do try to read the actual book as it is written in a very interesting way. I will be writting in chapters form. Total there is 6 chapter.

Chapter 1: You and others
1. WE ALL GET NERVOUS. Most ppl are more scared than we are. Eg: You spot a glamorous girl call Jane in a party and u think that she is calm and confident but in Jane's mind she is wondering whether, "Does ppl think its weird that i am sitting by myself or am i unattractive." Sometimes we think that WE ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Few ppl have confidence that they appear to have. Eg: u have neighbour that u never talk to and conclude they are snob. In actual u were frighten to say hello and figure THEY have prob. They were scared to say hello cos they reasoned YOU had a prob.

2. When we have bad habit we are the last to know. If u want to improve then ask the ppl u can trust. Tell them that u want to improve urself and want their total honesty.

3. If we ONLY SEE OUR FAULTS, WE EXPECT THAT OTHERS WILL SEE ONLY OUR FAULTS. Eg. u are insecure about ur look and think that ur gf will look for a new bf so u always nag at her. As a result, u are so engrous in ur prob that u forget to care about her. IF U DONT LIKE YOURSELF, YOU WONT BELIEVE THAT ANYONE ELSE WOULD LIKE YOU! So ask urself that, "do u want to lift urself up or pull urself down?" COMPARING OURSELVES IS A TRAP. There will always be someone richer, smarter, wittier than we are. So we need to stop measure ourselves against others but begin by setting goals and target which make sense to us. we measure our growth this year in term of last year.

4. Taking ourselves too seriously. John worn a beard for many years n decide to shave. But he is self conscious about making change and wondered what other ppl will think. When he go to the office no one gave reaction. During lunch he could not stand it any longer and ask, "what do u think of my new look." His fren give him a blank stare and say that he had a new mustache. THINGS THAT ARE HUGELY IMPORTANT TO US DONT MATTER A JOT TO OTHERS. Brian has a pimple his nose and hid in his hse 4 a week. Who cares?

What will u take when u need to evacuate asap?

I suddenly woke up at midnight when i smell burning smoke. It scared the hell out of me cos there are many media report on building or houses on fire. Further at this hour no one could be idiotic enough to burn rubbish and it doesn't smell like firecracker either. Instinctively i look out of my window expecting to see blazing fire. All i can see are serene houses and street light illuminating them. Phew! I feel relieve but start to worry that maybe the fire could be at the back of my house! I was wide awake and i could not sleep because the burning smoke still lingers in the air.

Beside the worry of fire a thought cross my mind. What will u take with u when u have to evacuate your house ASAP (due to natural disaster/fire)? Keep in mind that there is a very high possibility that ur house wont be the same again when the crisis is over.

For me i will definitely take nearby object like my cert, wallet, money, passport, some cloth and underwear if possible. However, nothing is more important than the lives in my home.

3 month check up~ laser eye optimax

I just had my 3 month check up~ look like my result are quite stable. My left side is astig 25 while right side power is 0~!! Which means perfect vision. Haha i am happy with the result... hope my power will remain in that range...

I ask my optometrist a few question about my eyes. some q concern after surgery effect and some question applies to everyone in general.

1. Sometimes my eyes are dry after surgery. Why is that so?
- When the flap on the eyes are cut, some of the tissue are remove thus making the eyes dry. Dry eyes also depend what activity u are doing. If u are in air cond room for many hours then ur eye will definitely be dry. If u watch tv/pc/reading then ur eyes can be dry because we stare at the object and blink less when we do this activity. When we blink less then the eyes cannot produce tears to lubricate. So dont forget to blink or remember take break to avoid short sight too.

2. After surgery, i am more sensitive to the light. Why is that so?
- Contact lenses and spectacle has a 70% rate of UV protection. This is why ppl who wear them are not prone to be sensitive to the light compare with ppl who dont wear them. So after surgery its best to wear sunglasses. This also applies to ppl who have good eye sight and dont wear glasses. Sunglasses function as a prevention of cataract.

3.What kind of sunglasses should i get?
This question are answered by my brother in law~ he say that when we wear sunglasses our pupil are enlarge. So they absorb more light compare to not wearing. Therefore its best to get sunglasses that fully cover ur eye because light come from every direction. If ur sunglasses has hole (usually located at the side or bottom) then light can enter.

4.Can i lie down on bed and read with a reading light at the back?
No! You will strain ur eyes if u lie down and read. This is cos when u lie down u tend to put the book near ur face, ur eyes will go to the centre and add strain to it. So even if u have a light at the back also u will get short sight. That is apparently how i get most of my short sight! The correct method is to sit up and put the book on the table. Your eyes will look downward and there is a good distance for the eyes to be comfortable with.

5. Why cant i watch tv/comp in the dark?
This will add strain to the eyes. Because the light come from the center and all other place are dark. This add strain to the eyes. When in dark ur pupil will enlarge but a lot of light will enter from the centre. This can make u short sight fast.

6. How did i get astigmatism?
Astigmatism can be because of pressure on the eye. If u have swollen eye lid, which add pressure to the eye, then u can get higher astig which is temporary. But i still not clear on this topic~~ if u noe then tell me yeah :D

Putting on braces on the top row

Finally after weeks of waiting i manage to put on braces on my top teeth. I waited so long that my feeling of fear has turn to anticipation. Its like "screw the pain and just bring it on~!!"

I m glad that the putting on braces is non painfull but my mouth feel very numb from opening it for long duration. When gargle that time i could not close my mouth properly.

I did not really ask him the procedure today. I know the purpose is to loosen the teeth first. When the teeth are loosen only he will thighten the braces. Tat why it wont be painful today. What i notice is that he will put some kind of acid on my teeth - gargle - put gum on bracket and stick it on every teeth -let it dry - put wire - tighten the wire with rubber band and a kind of steel. We can choose the rubber band color and i have chosen light pink! I thought of trying the hot pink but i cant imagine how it will look like so its better to choose light color. I think choosing the color that u like give u a kind of moral boost when u look at the mirror~ another 3 weeks of waiting for my next appointment in which he will check my top teeth then only do braces on my bottom row.

On the same day i ate fried chicken but i cant tear the meat using the front teeth. So what i do is that i tear up the meat into tiny pcs and insert into my mouth and ate using my back teeth. On the next day my front teeth are even more useless. The root has loosen a little so even normal grinding teeth to teeth will be painful. Today i ate porridge-pork ball-vege. When i eat the pork ball i have to shred it into tiny pcs and use back teeth to chew. The vege turn out surprisingly harder to chew than the meat cos the vege will get stuck in the braces. At one point i choke cos the vege trap between the back braces and my throat! Now that i have to eat those porridge, i feel hungry really easily. To me the feeling of hunger is more miserable than the braces.

When i clean my teeth after eating i will be a bit paranoid of checking any food stuck in my teeth. I could not imagine a vege wedges stuck in my teeth for days without realizing it. When i eat rice it will definitely trap in my braces. Rice are simple to remove. I just have to gargle first before brushing. When brushing, the doctor has given me a special brush which i can only brush left and right at the braces.

Now third day i still eat very slowly but getting use to the sensation. Overall i am coping well with it. But i am going to get multivitamin and protein powder next. Cos i have a hard time eating so i wont be able to eat many things and second the protein will make me feel satiated and full. The protein can use as quick fix for breakfast too. The protein just add 1 scoop and 1 cup of water and ta da~

Scaling was bad today :(

Hai, just when i thought scaling was a std non messy/painfull procedure - i was very wrong! Today is yet again another bloody gum day~

I think i am getting a little sick of the dentist room smell. I went there so many time that i associate the smell with pain. Immediately i shift to auto mode-high alert and i start to tense up when i enter the room. But i tell myself "not to worry-lar as it is only scaling-ma~!" All the scaling experience i went through are nice and non bloody experience if i am in private clinic~ haha today my concept has change dramatically.

I think today he is in a bad mood cos he is not really smiling when i greet him. He is very quick to scale and its painful. I dont noe what they use but the water splash all over my face (it doesnt matter tat my face are covered with large sunglasses). After finish he didnt give me mirror to look at the result like all the other dentist do... feeling that the whole process was a little to quick to belief i went to the bathroom to look. Sure enough he did not scale the top of my teeth. I was a bit disappointed but i am not going to pursue the matter. Next appointment will be bracket and wiring. Wah if i didnt ask him also i wont knw wat is going on~!! Then while waiting for this day to come (another 3 week of waiting game) I intend to pray fervently before i visit him that he is in a good mood..... pls be gentle~~

Finish taking out all 6 teeth

Finally i pluck out all of my 6 teeth. I find that the dentist definitely suffer from mood swing syndrom. Sometimes he can be gentle/rough when he is in a hurry. I know, because i have to repeat each process twice. When i take out the front side 2 teeth, he press on my lower gum so hard after injection that he left a "love bite" on my face. I thought what he did was a necessity/part of the process but when i went again to pluck out the other 2 front teeth the following week, he massage my face gentle... same goes for the wisdom tooth. The first one was "nice" while the second one was horrifying.

The next time i visit him will be for cleaning and then after 3 weeks only can do braces. My journey to put on braces will take 2 months. Why? This is an amazing video by Michael Moore who investigate the american health care system. He is also famous from filming the documentary Farenheit 9/11. Its the kind of video everyone should watch.

Sicko talks about US health insurance and pharmaceutical company who operate base on for-profit. The insurance company deny many policy claim although the patient need them critically while the pharmaceutical company bribe many US congress including George Bush to pass a policy that enable the pharmaceutical company to charge their medicine at a high price/watever price they wanted.

In US there is no free medical care. So those who could not pay are usually abandon by sending them away in taxi cab to union rescue mission. After that he compare US with Canada, UK, France and Cuba that have universal health care (meaning free health care).

Spoilers ahead~
Some of the part that caught my attention is the guy who accidentally cut his middle and ring finger while working. He went to the hospital and the doctor told him that his middle finger will cost $60k while his ring finger cause $16k. He decide to keep the ring finger and throw off his middle finger. Another part that are interesting is that Hilary Clinton has tried to past a bill for the universal health care but due to many protest from big company, she could not past the bill. Eventually instead of fighting to pass the bill, the health care paid her off for her silence. There is also a touching scene where Michael Moore brought some 9/11 volunteers who suffered illness as a result of the collapse building (they could not claim anything from the $50 million fund to help rescue worker of 9/11 because congress make a difficult process out of it) by bringing them to Cuba. A rescue worker who suffer breathing problem found out that the pharmacy shop there sell her breathing medicine for 5 cent while in US it is sold for $120.

After all this i begin to appreciate universal health care in Malaysia. Malaysia government health care is practically free and i am very great full for it. However they still have many things that they can improve on. For starters I think it would be nice if they can cut short queuing time :)

Taking out the first 2 side teeth

I have to take out another 4 teeth near the front/side. Hai.... feeling sad that i have to take out so many teeth... normal human being is 32 teeth... while mine will eventually be 26 teeth... i think i am fast becoming an alien...

In this dentist date, i took out 2 teeth first cos i am too chicken to take out all 4. Have to inject twice to the right to take out 2 teeth. After injecting, i will have to wait about 15 min for my mouth to numb. Haha funny thing happen is after he inject, i will have to gargle my mouth. I was very sure that i close my mouth when i gargle. Then the dentist look at me in surprise... "hey u are spilling on the floor lah~!" The water was spilling from the part that are injected....the sight is so funny.

The pulling of the teeth is rather fast. I didn't realize the teeth is out so fast. First he wriggles the teeth back and forth to loosen its hold. Then he tug out the teeth real fast. But the after effect is terrible. I had so much blood spilling out, i look like a vampire....

When the whole thing is done, i went downstairs to sit in front of a massage shop.... my mum wanted to go market and ask me to look after the car. And i was like alright, i will wait for u. Many passer by walk past me in that alley and ALL of them stare at me. I sat there a whole 15 minute thinking that they are all morons and that they had never seen ppl with a cotton sticking into the side of the mouth. I am especially piss with an old man who stare at me continuously although he had already walk past me... self consciously i touch my mouth and realize its wet all the way to my chin and neck. In shock, i look down at my shirt and realize my shirt is red and wet with blood and saliva! Wow... i was so surprise and paiseh.... i will never forget this experience.... no wonder all the ppl is staring at me. In the end i ran to the car and stuff tissue into my dripping mouth...

A few hours past and the blood is still flowing... all my tissue is soak. Once it stop, i am so glad and i doze off a little.... I took back the tooth and my tooth is really big.... when i am eating rice.. the food stuck into the gum hole... haha its really terrible... my gum now look like a food storage hole... after a few hours my mouth recover and i even went sg after i felt better. The next day i had buffet :)

Horror at 2nd wisdom tooth extraction

I just had my second wisdom tooth taken out one week after the first. Thats a few weeks ago. It took me a while to write in blog cos i had a bad experience with it. The doctor arrive late for half an hour and he seems to want to do things in a hurry. He was rather rough that day. Things goes smoothly after the injecting and cutting the gum (though the injection still hurt). Then he proceed to cut my teeth in half. This time around, he tried to pull out my teeth even though the teeth havent been cut into half. Its terrible painful! It is like he is trying to pull out my soul... unsuccessfully. when he realize my teeth haven not been cut into half completely, he then grind it some more. He repeat this process 3 times. I am almost in tears then.

When i come back i realize that he accidentally cut the side of my mouth and he stitch it up. I was so upset cos it bleed when i brush my teeth. I am glad that i only have to pluck out 2 wisdom tooth. Although this doctor is skillful, i think he lacks TLC... it stands for tender loving care. Haha too bad they don't really care about patient opinion and i can either continue or switch dentist. If i noe there is good dentist then i will switch. Too bad i dont knw.... sob... sob...

Today i pluck out my first wisdom tooth~

This morning had my wisdom tooth operation. I am very scared about it. When i do the surgery i try to think about anything else while the dentist inject, cut the gum, crack the teeth into 2, take out the teeth then sew.

In the middle of the surgery there is a machine failure! The doctor was like oops something is wrong. It scare me like shit. But overall i think he is efficient in term of his skill. He had my teeth out in minute. There is still pain but not as much as i imagine. Injection was painfull but after a few minute i feel that half of my mouth and tongue dont belong to me. Its so numb. I dont feel painfull when my gum is cut and my teeth is crack. But when the teeth is being tug out and when my wound is sewn then there is a slight pain and a very eerie feeling. I can feel the thread going thru my gum.

Just when i thought the worst is over, the after math is even worse. My gum bleed for 2 hours and my mouth swell like a golf ball. The swelling make me unable to chew or talk. I have to wet a towel with warm water and put it on my face (hem.... why warm water? thought when there is a swelling shd cover cloth with ices? anyone knows?). My mum blend the porridge for me so that i dont have to chew. Beside the swelling i feel a bit feverish and i feel very hot when i want to sleep. When i brush my teeth i am carefull not to brush near the wound and gargle the mouth wash that they gave. I am rather worried that there is dirt stuck on the wound but i could not open wide my mouth and see. Hopefully nothing got stuck~~ end of first day. Hopefully tomorrow feel better :D

Movie: Ratatouille (Animation by Pixar)

I really love this animation. Its a heartwarming film that shows that dreams do come true if u persevere. This story is special because it talks of a rat who wanted to become a famous gourmet chief. The idea of a rat who cook for human is a repulsive idea but Remy is more of a out of water rat. I really like the ending too~

This story tells of a Remy (rat) that loves to cook. He is inspired by 5 star world famous chief, Auguste Gusteau that "anyone can cook". Auguste later died because a famous jaded food critic (Anton Ego) criticize his food.

Remy has a family/colony of rats but when he got seperated from them during an incident, he stumble into Auguste Gueteau restaurant and met Linguini who are young and has no talent for cooking.

Linguini is a new staff. His job is to throw rubbish and clean the place. On his first day he mop the floor and accidentally spill the soup. Fearing that he will be in trouble he added spices and water to repair the soup.

When Remy saw what Linguini did, he was horrified and quickly went to the rescue. When no one was looking, Remy crept into the kitchen and help to repair the soup but was caught by Linguini. In the tussle Skinner walk past and thought that Linguini was tampering with the soup. Before Skinner can stop the head waiter, he scope up the soup and serve a food critic outside. The food critic love the soup and Skinner promoted Linguini position albeit resently. From then on Linguini and Remy start to pair up to cook delicious meal. Linguini become very popular and Skinner's resentment for him grows and at the same time he is skeptical that he can cook so well suddenly. Meanwhile jaded Anton Ego, the food critic came back again to judge Linguini skill because he did not belief that they can cook.

Game: Wii - cool video game console^^!!

Just tried Wii recently when bro in law bought it. Its really cool ^.^!! I held onto the remote and when i play tennis, its really like i am at the tennis field playing tennis. i am not really into playing games but Wii really get me going~~ Its easy to get hook and time passes quickly. Without realizing it, after a few hours i am actually sweating from playing! Haha its really a great exercise device too :D

This video is about Einstein e=mc² (publish in 1905). This eq was famous when it is use to create the atomic bomb that hit Hiroshima in 1945.

What is e=mc² (energy = mass x speed of light)?
This equation concern mass and energy. Mass can be transform into energy and energy into mass. This eq is special because Einstein can give the exact value in the amount of energy that are contain in mass. The result is that a small amount of mass can create a lot of energy. Eg. a cup of water can power London for a week.

How is the sun powered?
What really powers the sun? If the sun just burns like bond fire then it should have died out millions of years ago. Einstein eq explain that the sun's core mass are constantly converted into energy. Tiny particle are smash together. And mass transform into energy.

The race for atomic bomb begins
Soon ppl start to think if e=mc² can power the sun, then could we use it to generate power on earth? Can we release energy inside atom for our own purposes?

Einstein reply to this is that it is not practical to get energy out of atom. However hard that it is tried it will always take more energy to smash an atom than was created.

In 1933 Hitler came to power in Germany. Germany is a great centre in Physic. They research on how to release energy from atom to create bomb. They have found that radioactive are suitable as the substance. But how to break them is another challenge altogether.

In 1933 Leo Szilard work out how to make e=mc² into a bomb. He study in Berlin and left shortly after Hitler came to power. He realizes ppl are going about the wrong way. Scientist release energy by hitting alpha particle (consist of 2 proton and 2 neutron) onto nuclear but create very little energy. Since both the particle and nuclear carry positive electric charge they are like 2 magnets that will repel each other. This prevents it from blasting apart.

He recently discovered neutron. It has no electric charge. It won’t repel. It will hit on nuclear and nuclear can be split.

Leo’s theory: if u hit an atom with a neutron, as the atoms are divided, it will not only release energy but also create 2 or 3 more neutrons. Then the neutron will break more nuclear. As chain reaction multiplies then you have a bomb. This is a way of getting energy out of atom without pumping in vast amount of energy. All u have to do is have one tiny neutron to get a chain reaction.

In 1938, less than a year before outbreak of World War 2, he receives news that the German has found out about neutron.

He decides to use Einstein to alert the world of Nazi’s atomic bomb. He believes he is saving the world. When Einstein realize how the bomb can affect the world. He wrote a letter in 1939 to Franklin Roosevelt about the bomb.

In the wilderness in New Mexico, the US gov set up a top secret project. They name it Manhattan. 2.2 billion dollar is spent. It is today’s 50 billion dollars. In May 1945 before the bomb is complete, the Nazi surrenders. The war in Europe is over.

Although there is no threat, the work of Manhattan continues. 2 month after the defeat of Nazi, the bomb is complete. Japan war continues. The target has been selected. Hiroshima, Japan.

Aug 1945. The first atomic bomb is drop. It fell through the air 43 second. 0.6gm of mass is converted into 12.5 kiloton of energy in 6/10 second. That is the power of e=mc². Hiroshima bomb is a small bomb that cos the death of 70k ppl. Radiation sickness causes another 70k death. The bomb destroys 98% of city.

Einstein was horrified. He campaign against the spread of nuclear weapon and development.

There is another side to e=mc² . It is only clear after his death. Scientist discover that the e=mc² are not only the eq for destruction but also the eq of creation.

A small amount of mass = energy. Energy can condense back to mass. The universe begins 50,000 million years ago. At dawn of universe, energy was created through a big bang that evolves and condenses into material and mater. Which eventually transform into mass that makes out everything in the universe. Universe begins with a ball of energy then transform into mass. Everything in our planet exist because of the underlying work of Einstein eq.

However, Einstein did not live long enough to realize that e=mc2 is not only an eq for destruction but also an eq for creation.

Anime: Kenichi (History's Strongest Disciple Kenich)

I really love watching this anime. The plots are good and their jokes are hilarious. Best of all they don't drag the series like bleach or naruto. I strongly recommend this anime to everyone. I like furinji miu, kenichi and apachai~~!! They are really adorable :D

This is a story of how a weak person (Kenichi) decided to quit running and become strong. His life change when he met Furinji Miu and decided to learn martial arts in the dojo she live in. To become strong, he goes through grueling (or hilarious) training so that he wont be pick/bullied by others anymore. Just when he thought he has ended the bullying in school when he finally won the first fight in his life, he ended up drawing even more attention onto himself. Eventually every gangsters (Ragnarok) wanted to fight him and so he has to train even more to save his own life. Since he has a very sincere nature, some of the people he fight with eventually become his ally/best pal. As the story proceed he not only fight to protect himself but also the people he care for.

At the moment the show is still ongoing and there is no ending yet~ lets hope this show will always be this good~~ :)

I think this project is an amazing feat. Its like making a dream structure come true. Looks like a really cool place. If i am really rich i will definitely visit. But i wonder how this structure will be a solid structure forever...I mean wont the sea wash away the sand slowly...haha call it paranoia... really a great video shd watch also...

In 1989, Japanese ice artists visited the area and created an exhibition of ice art. In Spring 1990, French artist Jannot Derid held an exhibition in a cylinder-shaped igloo in the area.

Confusing treatment term at Optimax and Vista (Malaysia)

When i first look at the treatment for both Optimax and Vista centre, i was a bit confuse. i ask myself, "why both centre have different terms in their treatment"? I was confuse and decide to ring optimax toll free to clarify. The gist is that both offer same treatment but different term. I belief its due to different machine. Anyway i hope below will help people to understand better. Below explanation are limited to myopia and astigmatism treatment only.

Optimax - Vista
Lasik - Blade+std
Intralasik -Intra+std, Intra+std plus, Intra+adv (more or less)
Custom - Intralasik Superlasik Intra+vis4
Lasek - ??

Many people try to choose the treatment before hand. In actuality it is the treatment that chooses u and not u choosing the treatment. You will noe which treatment to go for after ur eye check up. Usually people with myopia and astigmatism will fall under 2 category of treatment. If ur cornea is thick then u will be suitable for lasik, intralasik and custom intra lasik. On the other hand if ur cornea is thin then there is only one option that is lasek.

If there is any inaccuracy to my info pls tell me. I look around for the equality of lasek in Vista web page but could not find it. If u noe must tell yeah~~ :D

Scared of teeth braces (Malaysia)

Wow, me going to do my teeth soon (johor bahru, malaysia). Feel so damn scared cos i am a dentist-phobic. Just went for check up and the dentist want to pluck out 4 of my normal teeth and 2 of my wisdom tooth~!!

Wats more, the plucking out of the wisdom tooth is a SURGICAL procedure. It involve cutting out the gum, cut the teeth into two then pluck out the teeth and sewing back the wound~ Involve about 3-4 stitch~!! Me being a dentist phobic nearly freak out at this... but wat to do? My teeth so crooked... Then each time only can pluck out one wisdom tooth/2 normal tooth. The doctor schedule is amazingly pack~!! I am in a 2 weeks waiting list. So the total time to pluck out all the 6 teeth is about 3 weeks plus starting from the first wisdom tooth.

Good news is that he mention my teeth need not more than 1 yr 5 months to complete but i shd have done my teeth when i was younger. If i done it younger then i only need about 1 yr~~!!! When he first look at my teeth he say my teeth is really solid (in a negative tone). erm i shd feel elated right?

Who are not suitable for Laser eye treatment?

The following groups are not recommended for Lasik surgery:

Pregnant or nursing women. The refraction of the eye is changing in this period, making the surgery ineffective or inaccurate. However, once a woman is no longer nursing, she may be a candidate for surgery.

Under 21 years of age. The body is, for the most part, undergoing radical changes. The eye is one of the most rapidly developing parts of the body. It is unwise to have the surgery, as your vision, regardless of your condition, may improve or worsen, thus requiring further surgery.

• Previous eye surgery (cataract, other corrective surgery.
• Keratonconus, a condition that alters the shape of the cornea.
• Corneal scratching or infection.
• Herpes simplex or herpes zoster that has affected your eyes.
• Glaucoma or high blood pressure in the eye.
• Inflammation of the eye or eyelid and crusting of the eyelashes.
• Injury to the central cornea.
• The consumption of any medication with ocular side effects, such as isotretinoin or amiodarone hydrochloride.
• Severe allergies.
• Any medication that causes the healing process to slow or halt, such as for: diabetes, autoimmune or immunodeficiency diseases, retinoic acid, or steroids.
• Unstable or worsening refractive errors

Temporary/permanent Laser Eye surgery side effect

Many people ask me what is the laser eye side effect. For me i am lucky that i have suffered no side effect.

Below is some side effect that are taken from a website. Overall the risk are minimal. According to the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, mild complications occur in 3-4% of patients. However, less than 1% experience any significant damage, and everyday, steps are being taken to lessen this number. No instances of blindness have ever been reported as resultant from Lasik surgery.

Its best that u research more on side effect as u will gain a clearer info.

Possible side effects and complications
Possible side effects and complications of laser eye surgery include:

• Treatment not successful - this may be due to over treatment or under treatment. You may need a second ‘enhancement’ procedure.
• Dry eyes - you may need to use lubricating eye drops.
• Delayed healing - the superficial layer of the cornea or the flap (if LASIK procedure was used) may not heal properly. Follow-up treatment may be required.
• Infection - treatment with antibiotics may be necessary.
• Superficial scarring - this will require a further procedure to fix.
• Excessive thinning of the cornea - this may lead to a return of sight problems and require the use of contact lenses or further surgery.
• Sensitive eyes - some people report increased sensitivity to glare, which can make driving dangerous.
• Blurred vision - ‘halos’ or rings of fuzzy light may result from the treatment.

Just had my 1 month check up. the result is that my left side astigmatism is -25 and my right side is short sight -25. Looks like it fluctuate from my 1 week check up result.

If you do not know anyone who done it then you can contact me. I will pass back to u RM150 after 30days (Update: I use this program and got mine after 2-3 months. So its longer than the stipulated 30days in their advertisement). Leave your email at comment and i will contact you.

-If u do the usual treatment (Price after promotion) then you are entitle to free one night stay at hotel. This is more applicable to outstation patient and this is not stated anywhere. Have to inquire.

- If u did the surgery within same month of check up they will not charge the RM100 for check up. Alternatively you can fill in survey form in optimax website to be entitle for the RM50 for check up.

- They have student and government servant price but it applies to LASIK only (price less than RM4 for a pair of eyes). Rarely people choose lasik now because its the oldest technology and more risk of side effect. Either that its 15 percent off any package. Part 3: Laser eye surgery at Optimax (Malaysia)

I choose Custom intralasik. Pls note that each person heal/result varies.

BEFORE SURGERY

I am nervous as my surgery approaches but excited at the same time. Just after a few hours then i wont be half blind! I dont have to wear contact every time i make up or when i go to function. I also will not feel the headache of wearing specs and i do not have to buy anymore glasses or hunt for cheap solution and contact lense.

I have to be there 1 hour earlier to prepare for the surgery. During this one hour i was prep on wat to do and not to do. I learn that i must try not to move my eyes too much and to focus on the red light above me. I can still blink my eye but i must not fall asleep. I am surprise that they tell ppl not to fall asleep. I mean who will fall asleep while their eyes are being split open...?? But i soon learn better~

This will be the first time i see the doctor. Previously my check up are done by the optometrist. I feel slightly apprehensive as i have not consult with this doctor till the said day. I was not very impress with his communication skill because he look a bit kan chiong/not very ppl friendly. I mean he noe what he is doing but he look like he is rushing for time when i talk briefly with him. So there is not much communication between us. And i feel that he should talk more specifically on what will happen during the surgery instead of just briefing thru.

Next i have to change to the special cloths and my eyes are disinfect and eye drops are use to numb it.

DURING SURGERY

The first part is to laser out the cornea to create a flap. the second part is to laser the inner eyes. In the first process i freak out. I was told that there is no pain when they laser my eyes but i still feel slight pain and the disorienting feel of my flap being laser out. It feels like someone is cutting out the surface of the eye. It doesn't help that while they cut it, they suck ur eyeball like vacuum in the process.

Cutting of the flap (1st process): they ask u focus on red light, they plaster ur eye lid and insert a device to stop the eyes from closing (its rather uncomfortable). Then they take a round thing to suck ur eye ball like a vacuum cleaner (it seems that the lasik vacuum is stronger). Then they laser out around the tube. I was not told this will happen. I had read about it briefly in the internet but i forget about it and i start to panic. However i still try to remain as still as possible.

After they laser out the first flap, they push the flap to one side. At this point my panic increases because everything i see is in a extreme blur. I was told to focus on the red light but i find it hard to open my eyes. While the doctor laser my eyes he keep saying that i have fallen asleep (when u fall asleep ur eyes role to the back) but i did not feel i have fallen asleep. The feeling is really disorienting and i wish that the doctor told me specifically what will happen.

AFTER SURGERY
You will not be able to open ur eyes. I cant exactly describe it as pain but rather uncomfortable, disorienting and slight pain. Your tear duct will automatically flow. This time you must put on sunglasses cos even if u shut ur eye, ur eyes will still be sensitive to the light. It is best to have someone accompany u and drive u home (BIG TIP). I could not really open my eye and I have to be lead like blind person.

MY EYE SIGHT

After reaching home, I pop in the sleeping pill and pain killer then go to sleep. It will be a bit hard to sleep. After about 3 hours i wake up and everything is so clear~!! The feeling is really exhilarating. I guess the doctor is really good after all.

The next day I went for check up the optometrist say that I have perfect vision. Vision better than 6/6. But its not stabilize yet. Follow up i have to go for check up for 1 week, 1 month, 3 month, 6 month. If after 3month/6month i have heal completely then they will start counting the next check up 12 month later to entitle for the VISION FOR LIFE package (whereby if i get myopia again i can correct it for free. But i need to pay RM50 every year that i check)

TIP: During the surgery day, try booking later of the day. That way when u are done, u can avoid the sun. Pls try to get a sunglasses. To me whether its UV or not. It does not matter whether its cheap or expensive. Because even with sunglasses on, u will have a hard time opening ur eyes and u cannot drive. Go back home asap.

OVERALL
I THINK THAT TECHNOLOGY IS RATHER ADVANCE NOW. By choosing CUSTOM INTRALASIK I belief that I have minimize my risk. Off course there is still some risk involve but the probability is minimal. The doctor is season too (johor bahru, city square branch). He did 2000 eyes already and is at the shop 5 days a week. His name is Dr Yip. u can check his credentials in the website www.optimax.com. However it would help a lot if u read my experience above. He does have skill but he is definitely not a talker~~

Part 2: Check up at Optimax (Malaysia)

Check up is the first process in the laser eye treatment. Only after the check up u will noe which treatment is suitable for u. So there is no point choosing the treatment first. If u want to budget try budget according to their most expensive package. Many ppl relate the power of their eyes as a suitability factor for the treatment but actually there are other factors involve. Basically in the check up they look at power, thickness of cornea, pupil length, tear duct and any disease.

My eye power is -6.00, I have thick cornea and my pupil is 6.5 (mid-long). Therefore I am entitle for LASIK, INTRA LASIK (CONVENTIONAL), and CUSTOM INTRALASIK. I choose the custom one because my pupil is near the margin of long (their long is 6.6) and I want to avoid risk of permanent halos and starburst. They will check other things like glaucoma, illness and ur tear duct. Then they dilate ur pupil to look inside.

Next is counseling. They mainly explain to u the process, the side effect, risk and if u have question, ask them now. After they dilate ur pupil, u will feel like u have "reading glasses" so when u want to read Q from a paper (BIG TIP) its best u print it big font and remove specs. This way u can see

Part 1: Optimax vs Vista (Malaysia). Which one to choose?

I just had my eyes done in Optimax in July 2007 and I would like to share my experience. I choose CUSTOM INTRALASIK (newest technology at the moment). The price is stated in the website (www.optimax.com.my). The outcome is fantastic~! Immediately after the surgery I can see better than 6/6.

I did my homework between VISTA and OPTIMAX. I find that Optimax is better because for the same surgery, their price is cheaper by few thousand and their toll free number receptionist is patience and professional. I had zero knowledge in the laser eye then and i ask numerous question. Especially why Optimax and Vista's price are so different and which treatment is equal to the other since both use different term. They answer all with patience and they help me a lot.

On the other hand Vista receptionist is quiet rude. When i ask about the package she sounded quite impatient as if she is sleepy after lunch. Then when i ask what is the difference between ur package and the competitor she straight away say that "many patients cant make up their mind so u have to visit the centre to check." I feel turn off by her reply and decide to go to Optimax.

In term of pricing Optimax is cheaper. Eg Optimax custom intralasik is around 6.6k both eyes while Vista SuperLasik Intra+VISX is around Rm10k (i compared both bcos they uses wavefront tech). Further Vista's price discrimination is rather confusing. An essentially 3 treatment are divided into 6 types of pricing. The 3 main treatment is the "blade+std (VISTA)" = lasik (OPTIMAX), "Intra+std, Intra+std plus, Intra+adv" = IntraLasik (more or less) and the last one is "SuperLasik Intra+Visx" = Custom IntraLasik. Optimax pricing are more straight forward.

In term of experience Optimax is definitely more and it is the first centre to open in Malaysia.

In term of machine it seems Vista one is better. However both use same technology (wavefront) and same method. So i do not feel that is good justification for its more expensive package.

In terms of outlook of the centre, Vista one look better. It looks more cozy while Optimax one just look like its there a long time. This again i do not feel is an important assessment but I think if Optimax can upgrade then they will have more customer. Sometimes ppl do look at first impression.

In term of website, Vista's one look more professional and informative. At first impression i feel more comfortable with Vista because the website is my "first connection" but too bad the receptionist is rude and i do not know why their price are way higher.

The above is the reason i choose Optimax. Once i made up my mind I went to look at the centre in jb and book an appointment for check up. Hope this help would be go-er to decide where to do their eyes. However my assessment has limitation because i did not go for consultation in Vista. I went once and their centre are close on monday~!! Haha speak about fate~
