How to tilt the Samsung Syncmaster B2230 forward or backward tutorial

I read in their official website and from other users that this Samsung B2230 has a tilt function. However I was a little puzzled how to tilt the Samsung B2230. This is because the connector to the LCD look seamless and it does not look like it can budge. I tried pushing here and there but nothing move. On the first few attempts of pushing the lcd, it blink and there was no image. I could not find a solution on how does the other users manage to tilt the LCD. Was a little apprehensive that I will break the LCD after a few tries but in the end manage to tilt it. Enlarge the top photo to see the summary.

How to tilt the Samsung B2230.
-Stand in front of the LCD
-Right hand: Grip the Stand Connector (pink colour)
-Left hand: Grip the top of the lcd (green colour)
Stabilize the LCD by gripping the connector tightly with your right hand.
Using your left hand push the lcd backward bravely and carefully.

It look seamless like it wont budge. Picture shows that it tilt forward.

It wont budge if you tilt it incorrectly. Picture shows that it tilt backward.

Left picture shows that it tilt backward. Right picture shows that it tilt forward. Both shows the maximum view of tilting backward and forward.

I brought an ex-display of a Samsung monitor of the same style -- I Thought that the storeman stuffed up the tilt (jammed it)getting the lower part off to put put the monitor back in the box. Your instructions solved my problem -- I was almost ready to give up. Many thanks!!

Haha thanks so much for posting this! I was one of the people using a book underneath the stand to tilt it back and wondering how these monitors ever made it onto the market.

I just got a round of applause in the office from everyone who has had been using their monitor either tilted forward to propped on a book for the past 6 months(!)

I bought Samsung B2030 Monitor today and tried to tilt the monitor as it was packed with no tilt. I called up the shop keeper who did not seem to have any idea regarding the product and told me that it cannot be tilted!! Of course the pictures on the Samsung website does show the particular monitor as tilted backwards while mine is sitting erect. I did try putting a little pressure but it does not seem to budge. However in the features of the product(stand), there is tilt written. So obviously it has to tilt! I could see a screw while dismantling the stand, I feel if this screw is loosened up a little bit, those monitors that do not seem to tilt might do so. However check out in the stand specifications of your model if it does tilt. Thanks for your tip.

Anyone here who has broken their stand while trying to tilt ?? :)

Praveen said...

Here is an add on to my comment above. I realized I only needed to "To tilt the monitor backwards, hold the neck of the stand firmly and push the top front of the monitor to the back. To tilt it forward, simply push it at the top back."

Well no screws to be dealt with !

Thank you so much for this, I just bought a new Samsung Monitor and thought it would not tilt.

I thought sure that the "Magic Angle" setting in the option menu was like an alternative, your guide just stopped me from returning it to the store and looking like as jackass! I even asked my friend who is a carpenter to make an angled stand and he said just return it for something that tilts!

There was nothing in the usermanual and Samsung have dropped the ball badly on this!

Thank you again!

Anonymous said...

Thank you! Common sense says it should tilt, but I was worried about breaking something. Super instructions!! Samsung owes you big time.

You are a genius :) I just bought this monitor and was going crazy because it's dual monitor setup and the new one was tilting down. Now it's perfect and I'm happy thanks to you :) Thank you for taking the time to post that! The only problem I have now is that the new one is so much better than the old one as far as brightness goes they look strange together :P

I just bought the Samsung Syncmaster and read in the manual that it tilts from 2-22 degrees. I tried to tilt it and was afraid of breaking it. I was about to return the monitor to the store where I bought it. I will try this method first, but I am sure it will work!

thanks for your help !

Wow! It was so easy. I held the monitor at the base and pushed the top of the monitor backwards, it worked very easily.

Thanks Sir! I've been using this monitor at work for the last couple of years not knowing it could be tilted. I read somewhere that this model coul not be tilted; they were wrong. What a relief using it in the tilted position. The manual lits that there's tilt but does not explain anywhere how to tilt it. Thanks so much again. Now I can avaoid the glare while having it positioned normally while before I had to put my monitor at weird angles to avoid glare.

Thanks, got a new Samsung S24B150 and at first did not Think it would tilt. After Reading your post got the courage to push and it worked!

Thanks! I had been using this monitor for almost 5 years and though I tried to tilt many times I didn't have 'courage' to push with some force for the fear of breaking permanently. Great that you posted with pictures! I did exactly that and today I am working with the monitor very comfortably for the first time. Thanks again!

Thank you very much.
I was full of fright .
But yes , the trick for tilt the screen is as you showed, turning it, grab hard and pull the top

:O And was whit less force than pull from the front :)

Thanks from Colombia

Thank you so much, I was too carefull with it. This post was really really helpfull to me !!!

I couldn't understand the mechanism for the tilt as the hinge was not clearly visible.
Your method was of great help.
My monitor was jammed, so had to hit the edge lightly but it worked.
Thank you so much!

Genuinely, I'm stunned. My Samsung TV-monitor has been "facing down" by a small angle in all the years I've owned it. It's been sat on a half-filled A4 file, to get it at a normal angle.

I can't work out if I feel particularly dumb or (having re-re-read the manual) if this is just the oddest thing I've discovered all year.

Sandy Zen said...

Thankyou so much - If I hadnt found your post I would have had my monitor proppedup by books to tilt it back forever! I did think I would break it but I didnt. very helpful :-) Thanks again - hugs from spain XX

Stunned! Have had a Syncmaster B2430 for years and always put up with it tilting slightly forward. Grabbing the edges and trying to tilt it backwards simply will not work and the base looks for all the world as if it is moulded and not designed to move. That always seemed strange. There you have it, grab the base and screen as per the instructions above and tilt backwards with practically no effort at all. Crazy design, but a new lease of life for my monitor! Huge thanks for the tip.

Thanks Brother 10 years, I have been using the monitor for 10 years and never known. I don't know whether they mentioned in the manual or not but definitely its so well designed that it does not look as though it can tilt.
thanks for making this post !!!
